Body Control Pilates Development Weekend 2015

On September 26th/27th I attend the annual Body Control Pilates Development Weekend 2015 held at The Royal College of Physicians, London

This year was extra special because not only was it the 25th Development Weekend but this year marked the 20th anniversary of the founding of Body Control Pilates by Leigh and Lynne Robinson.

This year the 2 day event saw the largest-ever selection of lectures, workshops and classes including an early evening drinks reception at the College on Saturday attended by guests of honour who have been closely involved in many facets of Pilates history over the last 50 years and more:

Mary Bowen (Pilates Elder, trained with Joe and Clara for six years)

Lolita San Miguel (Pilates Elder, certified by Joe and Clara)

John Steel (Joseph Pilates’ New York lawyer and confidant)

Ken Endelman (President, Balanced Body and key figure in the legal battle to open up the US Pilates trademark for all).

Chuck Rapoport (who took those iconic photos of Joe)

Guest presenters included

Elizabeth Larkam (US)

Dr. Suzanne Martin (US)

Ton Voogt & Michael Fritzke (US)

Zachery Dacuk (US)

Dr. Ruth Lovegrove Jones (UK, leading pain management and pelvic floor physiotherapist)

Nick Birch (UK, Consultant Spinal Surgeon)

Bhupal Chitnavis (UK, Consultant Neuro- and Spinal Surgeon)

After 2 non-stop days I have returned home inspired, full of new ideas and fresh ways of presenting some of those familiar exercises too.

I look forward to seeing you all at class very soon
